Certain employment legislation is usually updated annually to take account of inflation.

The Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order (Northern Ireland) 2022

From 6 April 2022, the Order increases limits applicable to certain awards and payments under employment rights legislation in Northern Ireland in line with the Retail Prices Index, for example:

  • Maximum amount of “a week’s pay” for the purpose of calculating a redundancy payment or for various other awards including the basic award of compensation for unfair dismissal increases from £566 to £594
  • Limit on amount of compensatory award for unfair dismissal increases from £89,669 to £94,063
